Congress in forceful defence of the nuclear deal (12-07-08)

If there was a single person left to rose to the occasion and support the deal, it was the Rahul Gandhi the Prince of Congress and the alleged heir of the family legacy. He, as was witnessed, came out in forceful defence of the deal and also praising the bold initiative of the Prime Minister to heighten the nation's interest and dignity in the world map. The way he spoke was amazing, since he apart from being the blue-eyed boy of the party is considered in several quarters as the prime ministerial candidate of the future.  To his consideration it was worth sacrificing a government to uphold "national interest and principles", and this was a speech that was expected by the rank and file of the Congress for long. But, till now, he is perhaps the only leader of the party who went berserk with emotion and stated candidly that despite the dignified task if the government fell it would be "simply bad luck".

However, his speech that had words like "stand for national interest and principles" deserves praises and makes one conclude that the future of the nation is not so dull, as was thought even some days back. Well, in every way the statement was quite exasperating for the BJP or the party that appears to have a patent right of the saga of patriotism.

But it was again his mother, Chairperson of UPA, Sonia Gandhi who stole the show and expressed the real situation to both the UPA alliance and the members of the Congress Working Committee. The way she exalted the past initiatives of the Left and that of the Samajwadi Party, especially for supporting the government in the wake of the national debate, proves that the chronicle of post-electoral alliance, if the is any, is already knocking her conscience.
